Meeting with Jesus

|
"Listen, O daughter, consider and give ear:
Forget your people and your father's house.
The king is enthralled by your beauty;
Honor him for he is your Lord."
Psalm 45:10-11

I love this picture: A woman sitting at her king's feet, him being ENTHRALLED by her beauty. Everything else drowns out...all worries, fears, things of this world. It's a picture of the beauty of simplicity.

It's Mary sitting at Jesus' feet, listening intently, soaking up time with her Savior (Luke 10:39, 41-42).

It's the sinful woman, giving up everything she has for Jesus. She realizes that apart from Him she has no good thing; that she desperately needs Him (Luke 7:37-38, 44-48)

She pours out all she has to give: her tears, her kisses, her wealth. She gives her most prized possessions...the ones that are truly from her heart. She gives Him her best and doesn't withhold anything from her Lord.
She understands that she must come as she is...with what she has to offer...and pour her heart out to Jesus.

This is the BEAUTY of our pure and simple devotion to Jesus:

We come to Him AS WE ARE.
We pour our our HEART, our LOVE, our LIFE.
We don't fear other's words or judgement, because we know that JESUS is most important.

BEING WITH JESUS...All of us...is the greatest gift we have here on earth.
We get to! Amazing!!

We can be real, honest. There is no fear...just LOVE and grace.

These are the moments when transformation truly occurs:

When we meet with Jesus.

Greater

|
"For He spoke, and it came to be; He commanded, and it stood firm.
The Lord foils the plans of the nations; He thwarts the purposes of the peoples.
But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever, the purposes of His heart through all the generations.
" Psalm 38:9-11

Lord. All creation is under your reign. You are power itself.
Even Satan was no match.
Nothing on this earth can withstand God's love.

Lord, there is nothing that is stronger than your love.
No heart that can overcome your love because
Your love has overcome this world.
No heart can be too hardened.
No soul can be too far away.

Lord, your love surpasses ALL.
You are greater than our hearts.
Greater than its deceitfulness.
Greater than its doubts and fears.
Greater than its pride and stubbornness.

If you speak, it happens.
You call us into TRUTH; into life.
You bring life to the lifeless.
You bring hope to the hopeless.
You bring light to the darkness.
You bring wholeness to the brokenness.

You bring the lost home.

Fingerprints of Grace

|
His scars are BEAUTIFUL. They tell a story; a story of TRUE love.
They tell of the sacrifice that was made.
The flawless became flawed for our sakes.

His scars remind us of who we were, and more importantly, who He is.

Isaiah 53:2,5
"...He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in His appearance that we should desire Him... BUT He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him, and by His wounds we are healed."

His piercings represent our sins, and His wounds remind us that we are healed. We are given peace only because He laid down His life.

How can my scars and my past be used to show His love and grace?
What story has been told by my wounds?

God, you've taken my hurts and scars, and made them beautiful. You've redeemed me and brought life where there was none.

The story my scars tell is being written by you, covered with fingerprints of your grace. It's not done--it's never done. But, with each passing day, it's becoming more and more beautiful.

Thank you for healing me, Lord. For picking me up, cleansing me, and allowing me to show my scars to those around me.

I think with scars, there's something intimate, yet real about them. They require vulnerability. Some scars are easy to bear--those that are less deep and less personal to us.
But as you get to know someone, scars slowly are revealed. It's scary to reveal to someone the parts of you that have been hurt, despite God's healing and forgiveness.
The thought crosses our minds, "Would he still love me if he saw this scar? Is it too ugly for Him to bear?"

So, more often than not, we cover our scars, pretending they never existed. But, you can only keep them hidden for so long...
There comes a point when you just need to reveal them for fear of not being accepted or loved.

God has seen us at our worst. He knows all our scars. Yet He loves us immeasurably more than we'll ever know!
And He shows us that it is through the wounds that we can be healed, and through our scars that we can testify to His love and power.

It is through the rawness of our wounds that He can make our scars what they were meant to be

Beautiful.

We Need You, Lord

|
Yesterday, as I sat in a coffee shop spending time in God's word, I heard pieces of conversations: "We all have flaws and insecurities..." and "I realized I had lost myself..."

I know and hear and see the brokenness all around me.
I see the need for Your love, O Lord, to reach those around me.
I feel assured in this moment that my job isn't in vain;
that God CAN use me;
that there IS a need for you, and
there is hope for those who don't yet know you.

People are crying out for you, Lord.
They might not yet realize that it's you they're crying to...

But it's you.
It's you who can melt the hardened heart.
It's you who can make the blind see.
It's you, Lord, and only you, who can satisfy the deepest desires of our souls.

"He lifted me out of the slimy pit,
out of the mud and mire;
he set my feet on a rock
and gave me a firm place to stand.
He put a new song in my mouth,
a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear
and put their trust in the Lord."

-Psalm 40:2-3

They need you.

I need you.

We all need you, Lord.
